Abstract

The radiation emitted by plasma produced on the surface of V//2O//5 single crystals by light pulses from a neodymium laser has been examined spectroscopically. The plasma temperature has been estimated and the temporal characteristics of individual bursts of radiation have been studied. A possible mechanism is proposed for the vaporization of the crystal and the formation of the plasma.
