Abstract

Biopsy material of cerebellar cortex of a woman who suffered from a cerebellar syndrom was electron microscopically examined. Above all the stratum moleculare was studied. Lacking older data from literature, the ultrastructure of the stratum moleculare of normal human cerebellum was investigated. The authors describe the electron microscopical differencies between normal material and one case microscopically showing a loss of Purkinje cells. The differencies mainly consist in desintegration of Purkinje cells, their dendrites, and thorn synapses as well as in a local proliferation of glia.
