A nonperturbative numerical evaluation of the one-photon self-energy correction in hydrogenlike ions was presented. The evaluation was carried out in ions with low nuclear charge numbers from 1 to 5. A detailed description of the method of evaluation for the ground state and excited state was provided. The results were obtained for the self-energy remainder function with a precision of about 0.8*Z4 Hz for the ground state of atomic hydrogen and 1.0*Z4 for the 2S state. A comparison of numerical results with the results based on known terms in the expansion of the self-energy in powers of Zα was also carried out.
