Electron acceleration by intense THz pulses

Abstract

Accelerating effect of THz pulse pairs on electron bunches has been investigated numerically. Electron bunches can be accelerated from rest to 80 keV using four single-cycle THz pulses, each of 0.5 mJ energy. Various electron bunch sizes and charges were investigated during the acceleration process.
