Abstract

In order to obtain an electrical field of nearly uniform stress in pressurized Van de Graaff generators a new electrode system, consisting of a high voltage terminal, shaped as third order paraboloid of rotation matching to a spherical calotte and equipotential rings of oval section, is proposed.
