Electrochemical regulation of excitation energy transfer in chlorophyll-protein complexes

Abstract

It is shown that with change in pH from 7·3 to 2·5 the bands of the absorption and fluorescence spectra of solutions of chlorophyll-protein complexes shift to the longwave region. It is assumed that changes in pH in vivo may lead to changes in the distribution of excitation energy in the pigment system of photosynthesizing organisms.
