Abstract

Electrohydrogenation of 2,4-pentanedione (acetylacetone) and 2,5-hexanedione (acetonyl-acetone) at platinized platinum electrode has been studied in 1 M H2SO4 supporting electrolyte. Polarization measurements and product analysis have been carried out. Formation of hydrocarbons was observed in both cases and the possible reaction paths leading to hydrocarbons are discussed.
