Electrical transport studies of glassy ZrNi hydrides

The thermoelectric power and resistance of (Zr48.5Ni51.5)99.3P0.7-H metallic glasses were measured. The thermoelectric power decreases from S ≈ 2 μV K-1 at zero hydrogen-to-metal ratio ( H M = 0) to a negative value (S ≈ -2 μV K-1) at a hydrogen-to-metal ratio of 0.7 ( H M = 0.7). These results show the high sensitivity of the thermoelectric power to hydrogen concentration and are consistent with the Mott model.
