Abstract

Several enzymes were immobilized on a polyacrylamide bead polymer possessing carboxylic functional groups activated by a water-soluble carbodiimide. The effects of immobilization on the catalytic properties and stabilities were studied. It was found that, for a given support and coupling procedure, the catalytic properties and stabilities depend mainly on the enzyme structure. The role of the support as microenviromnent is of only secondary importance.
