Abstract

The effects of intracerebroventricular administration of 1.0 ug of Phe-Ile-Tyr-His-Ser-Tyr-Lys-OH /DC-9-39/ on the α-methyl-p-tyrosine /α-MPT/ -induced catecholamine disappearance and pargyline-induced serotonin accumulation in the hypothalamus, mesencephalon, septum, amygdala, cortex and striatum were studied. The dopamine disappearance was reduced in the hypothalamus and striatum, while it was increased in the septum. The serotonin accumulation was decreased in the hypothalamus, amygdala and cortex, but increased in the septum. The data indicate that this heptapeptide is able to modify the activities of the brain catecholaminergic and serotoninergic systems.
