Effect of water-mimicking additives on the synthetic activity and enantioselectivity in organic solvents of a Candida cylindracea lipase

Abstract

The activity and enantioselectivity of Candida cylindracea lipase enzyme are affected by a number of solvents. There is a good correlation between the activity and enantioselectivity of the lipase and the log P values of the solvents. Replacement of water with water-mimicking ethylene glycol increased the activity and enantioselectivity of the enzyme. The results show that the dominant factor is the enzyme-water interaction.
