Abstract

In order to elucidate the effect of UV-laser treatment on structural changes of lignin-polysaccharide complex of maplewood, the dioxane lignin was isolated from the surface layers of irradiated wood sample and characterized by FTIR spectroscopy. Moreover, the interaction of lignin with polysaccharides during irradiation of cellulose matrix impregnated with lignin was examined by ATR spectroscopy. A comparison of the ATR results shows lignin immobilization as well as its modification due to UV-laser treatment.
