Abstract

In this work the rapid quenching method was used for the preparation Fe//8//0// minus //xNi//xB//2//0 (x:0,5,10,20,40) ribbons about 10 mm wide and 10-30 mu m thick. The catalytic properties of the ribbons in the CO plus H//2 reaction were measured in a flow reactor at 520-570 K and at atmospheric pressure. The ribbons were characterized before and after the catalytic reaction by XPS, UPS including depth profiling by Ar ion etching. In some cases electrochemical polarization was also measured.
