Effect of precipitation on the high temperature mechanical properties of DC-cast AlMn(Fe,Si) alloys

Abstract

High temperature mechanical properties of Al-Mn alloys were investigated. It was found that the steady-state impression creep rate is strongly influenced by Fe or Fe and Si addition. High temperature annealing of the pure Al-Mn alloy results in anomalous mechanical behaviour of the alloy, which can be connected with some phase transition like changes in the precipitation processes.
