Effect of mitolactol on survival and nuclear DNA content of Chinese hamster cells, and on ultrastructure of the G1 cells (Hungarian)

Abstract

The sensitivity of synchronous and asynchronous Chinese hamster cells to mitolactol was studied. The drug had a cell damaging effect in all phases of the cell cycle. In survival studies an increased cytotoxic effect was found in the late G1, and early S phase. Administration of the drug in these 'sensitive' periods resulted in a characteristic premitotic block of the nuclear DNA content. In the cells treated during the G1 phase, fragmentation of the nucleolus, and an increase of the number of intracytoplasmatic fibrillae and annulate lamellae were found.
