Abstract

The effects of feed supplementation with Cytoplex Se of weaned pig diet has been tested in a field study. The trial lasted for 5 months from weaning until slaughter. During this period the treatment group received feedstuff supplemented with Cytoplex chromium and Selenium. The concentration of Se was 0,5 mg/kg of feed and that of Cr was 0,3 mg/kg of feed. The experimental groups consisted of 545, the control of 540 28 day-old weaned piglets. Body weight gain, feed conversation efficiency, mortality and financial parameters were investigated. In the control group 5.11% (organic Se) and in the experimental group 2% of pigs died or were culled because of different reasons. Final body weight of the Cytoplex Se supplemented fed pigs was 3% higher than that of the controls. The feed conversion efficiency in the experimental group was 9.65% (organic Se) lower than that of the controls. The financial parameters were calculated and compared and the conclusion was that the use of Cytoplex chromium and selenium is economically worth in pig fattening.
