Abstract

The formation of the Kondo compensation cloud influencing the dynamical properties of a magnetic impurity that tunnels between two positions in a metal was studied. A strong tunneling impurity-conduction electron coupling was generated and the temperature dependence of the tunneling rate was changed by the Kondo effect. It was predicted that the formation of the Kondo state on the magnetic impurity may strongly suppress the tunneling rate of the two level system (TLS).
