Abstract

Clinoptilolite dehydrated at 350°C was found to be suitable for purifying the coolant-oil mixture from water and acids. The adsorption of water and hydrochloric acid from the coolant, the oil, and the coolant-oil mixture was compared for silica gel, Linde 4A molecular sieve, and a clinoptilolite-containing adsorbent. A filter cartridge was prepared by cementing blocks with a binder from 0.8-1.2 mm particles of the natural zeolite. Concerning abrasion resistance adsorbents containing clinoptilolite were superior to silica gel and Linde 4A. The presence of oil in the coolant hardly decreased the sorption capacities of zeolites for water impurity. Adsorption selectivity and capacity of silica gel for water and HCl were poor. In adsorption of HCl clinoptilolite and Linde 4A showed similar characteristics. -Authors
