Abstract

Various Trichoderma and Hypocrea species have remarkable importance in industry, agriculture as well as clinical practice. The precise identification of isolates at the species level is crucial in all fields of Trichoderma research. Barcoding is a powerful tool for the identification of eukaryotic species, including fungi. In this chapter, TrichOKEY, a DNA barcode-based online programme developed for the identification of Trichoderma/Hypocrea species is presented and its practical applications are discussed.
