Abstract

An experimental setup for pumping a distributed feedback dye laser (DFDL) is described, which ensures the creation of a perfect interference pattern even for a pump source with low spatial and temporal coherence. This property is maintained even if the DFDL laser is tuned over a 70 nm spectral range. Tuning is accomplished by rotating two mirrors. Tunable, nearly transform-limited ps pulses are generated when the pump source is a N//2 laser.
