Dissolution and wettability characteristics of magnesium oxide granules

Abstract

The objective of the present work was to investigate how the dissolution kinetic parameters of magnesium oxide granules were influenced by the changes in their wettability. Dynamic contact angle measurements were applied to study the wettability of the prepared magnesium oxide granules. Granulation was carried out in a laboratory fluidized-bed system using oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion as a granulation liquid. The constant pH method was used for the in- vitro dissolution study. It can be concluded from the results that the application of dynamic contact angle measurements proved to be a useful means of the prediction of the drug release kinetics of the solid samples.
