Dissipative structures by free convection in reactive systems

Abstract

The formation of spatio-temporal patterns in a class of photochemical reactions based on the photo-disproportionation of complex iron(III)-oxalate was investigated as a function of solvent viscosity. The effect of viscosity in pattern formation of the complex was discussed. The influence of sol-gel transition was also studied.
