Dislocation dynamics on parallel computers

Abstract

For the investigation of the dynamic properties of dislocation systems different algorithms suitable to run on parallel computers are reviewed. In the first part of the paper parallel methods of the numerical integration of the equations of motion of dislocations are outlined. In the second part the concept of stochastic dislocation dynamics is described. Results of numerical investigations on dislocation patterning obtained on different parallel computers are also presented.
