Discrete approximations to the 1 + 1 dimensional O(3) symmetrical lattice theory

Abstract

Discretized versions of the O(3) symmetric quantum chair are considered with the unit vector variables pointing to vertices of regular polyhedra. Critical data are found by analyzing mass gaps of finite chains, determined numerically. Although gc and v move with the increase of the number of allowed directions towards the behaviour expected for the continuous group, the β-function of the models considered does not reveal any crossover region corresponding to asymptotic freedom behaviour.
