Different nature of the induced change of Fe and Ni magnetic moments in bcc Fe-Ni-Al alloys

Abstract

Room-temperature Mössbauer investigations of bcc Fe-Ni-Al alloys showed that the Al neighbors do not cause any change in the magnetic moment of Fe atoms. Thus the earlier measurement of Bardos et al., which indicated a much larger decrease of the average magnetization of these alloys than the simple dilution, suggests a significant decrease of the Ni magnetic moments around the Al atoms. A simple local model can explain these observations.
