Development of multifunctional additives based on vegetable oils for high quality lube oil and diesel fuel

Abstract

A study was carried out to produce new type vegetable oil-based multif?nctional additives for lubricating oils and Diesel fuels. Raw materials originating from partly renewable source meeting the biodegradability requirements were used. Intermediates were produced by radically initiated method with the use of polyisobutylene, maleic anhydride, and rape-oil methyl ester. In case of additives for Diesel fuel, the detergent efficiency of prepared additives reached the level of the reference. The additives had excellent corrosion inhibiting properties in diesel fuel. Additives based on vegetable oil also had significant lubricity improving effect.
