Abstract

A unit which allows to measure the thermal expansion of volatile solids with a prone to decomposition, toxic vapor phase was designed for studying polymorphous transitions of CdTe by dilatometry. The unit was tested by measuring the transition temperatures of iron. Three phase transitions were found in CdTe. The transition temperatures agree well with those measured by other methods.
