Detection of adenyl cyclase in the myocardium

Abstract

Presumable localization of the adenylcyclase in the myocard was demonstrated in fixed tissue specimens by the use of adenylyl imododiphosphate (AMP-PNP) as a substrate anti lead, strontium, or strontium and diaminobenzidin-tetrahydrochloride (DAB). The precipitation could be observed along the plasma membrane in the subsarcolemmal cisternae, in the sarcotubuli and in the intercalar discs - especially in the 'tight junctions'. Changes of the intensity of the reaction caused by potassium fluoride, ephedrine, propranolol and ouabain are described.
