Abstract

The design of detection filters for eigenvalue changes is discussed. Output separability and mutual detectability of failure signatures are examined, and the computation of filter gain with a prescribed filter spectrum is discussed. The geometric concepts presented can also be discussed in terms of closed-loop eigenvalues and eigenvectors, and the detection filter design problem can be formulated as an eigenstructure assignment problem.
