Abstract

Thermoanalytical curves of the derivative type can be described by using empirical parameters as properties of the peak shape, including the temperatures at characteristic points of the peak, temperature differences, mathematical moments, etc. The reproducibility of differential scanning calorimetric curves of the thermal decomposition of aluminium hydroxide is evaluated on the basis of these parameters. The importance of correct and consistent choice of baseline is demonstrated.
