The dendritic growth of ZnS crystals in the form of long ribbons, plates and needles was observed when ZnS crystallized from liquid Ga. The cubic ribbons and plates propagated in the <211> directions, the needles were hexagonal and their main propagation was parallel to the c-axis. It has been found that for a cubic lattice (ribbons and plates) the growth mechanism of ZnS show the same features as the growth of Ge, Si, In, Sb, etc. dendrites.
