Data on the relationship between the retention index system and flow conditions in programmed flow gas chromatography

Based on experimental measurements and with help of a GIER-type computer (A. S. Rednezentralen, Copenhagen), the possible relationship between the Kováts retention index system and flow conditions was studied. It was established that under isothermal conditions, the retention index calculated from Equations 1 and 6 is independent of the flow conditions. This result is particularly important in connection with programmed flow gas chromatography since it makes possible the general application of the retention index system.
