Abstract

The challenge posed by eco-cruise controlled vehicles is the modeling and control of the mixed traffic flow. Most of the novel traffic control design methods are based on the state-space representation of traffic flow dynamics. It is incorporated in several relationships (Messmer and Papageorgiou, Traffic Eng Control 31:466–470, 1990), e.g., the conservation of vehicles, equilibrium speed equation, fundamental equation, and momentum equation.
