Abstract

The authors investigated whether it is justifiable to perform fetal karyotyping in pregnancies conceived with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). 146 singleton, 22 twin and 1 triplet pregnancies were examined and praenatal chromosomal examinations were carried out. Intrauterine karyotyping showed a 3.4% incidence of abnormal karyotype in singular pregnancies, and 4. 45% incidence in the twins. Based on their results, the authors recommend that cytogenetic investigation of the fetuses conceived with ICSI seems reasonable.
