Crack propagation on the reinforced polymer composites

Abstract

The crack initiation and propagation were studied on polypropylene composites containing a single layer of different textile fabrics. The failure mode and the size of the damage zone was determined on compact tension specimens by locating the acoustic emission events during loading. The fracture surfaces were monitored by scanning electronmicroscope.
