The functional role of corticosterone receptors of both nuclear and cytoplasmic regarding the regulation of adaptive behavior is still obscure. The results presented have drawn attention to the fact that several binding sites in the nuclear fraction of hippocampus for corticosterone have a functional relation to the regulation of some elementary behavioral forms such as rearing activity or habituation and may be involved in the cellular transfer mechanism of corticosterone. 1975/. Corticosterone treatment in the early postnatal period may cause a change in the properties of these binding sites and in the adult adaptive behavior as well.
