Corrosion mechanism of tin-zinc alloys in neutral medium

Abstract

The aim of the investigation was to give a reliable comparison for the corrosion rates of different SnZn alloys in de-aerated/aerated 0.5 mol dm-3 Na2SO4 solutions. The kinetic consistency of the polarization resistance (Rp) determined by the conventional linear polarization technique (LP) was supported by electrochemical impedance measurements (EIS). Additionally, the corrosion rate was checked by solution analysis with atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS).
