Abstract

The reaction of 12 pyridine derivatives with alkaline tetraiodomercurate was investigated and the physical properties and composition of the products have been established. The majority of the studied derivatives yielded compounds of the composition B2HgI2 (B = pyridine), only the 2-amino- and 3-aminopyridine yielded products of the BHgI2 type. Conclusions with respect to the structure of di-iodomercurates have been drawn on the ground of conductometric, ultraviolet and infrared spectrophotometric investigations.
