Abstract

Glybenclamide test following the intravenous injection of 1 mg glybenclamide was studied in 18 subjects with normal carbohydrate metabolism, in 13 patients with chemical diabetes and in 11 patients with mild diabetes. Typical blood glucose curves were obtained in 3 groups of patients, analysis of which revealed that the reduction of blood sugar at 30, 45 and 60 min after the injection may be used as a reliable parameter for the differentiation between normal subjects, patients with chemical diabetes and patients with diabetes. Data processing was also employed for the separation of the 3 groups. The results obtained indicate that, similarly to the tolbutamide, the glybenclamide test may be suitable for the diagnosis of chemical diabetes.
