Competitive bromination kinetics of CH3Br and CH2ClBr

Abstract

The photo-bromination kinetics of CH3Br and CH2Br were studied using the relative-rate method. The photo-bromination analysis was carried out in combination with the analysis of gas chromatographic reaction products and the determination of rate coefficient ratio. The relative-rate kinetic method yielded the rate coefficient ratio as 1.6 with 15.5 kJ mol-1 being the difference in activation energies.
