Comparison of the imaginary and complex absorbing potentials using multistep potential method

Abstract

In this article, the reflection and transmission of plane waves are examined from "negative imaginary" (NIP) and "true complex" absorbing potentials (CAP). Comparisons have been made between these two types of potentials using our multistep potential method. The results showed that, except for a few cases, the CAPs give significantly better values for the absorption than those given by the NIPs.
