Abstract

Intracellular actions of atosiban and magnesium are partly commone. Therefore combined use in combination for tocolysis allows for the decrease of the atosiban with maintained efficacy. Atosiban (the required dose decreased by 1/3) in combination with magnesium sulfate (2 g/hours) or terbutalin were used for acute tocolysis for 24 hours in 20 cases. Tocolysis - delivery interval serum electrolyte and bloode glucose changes (Na, K, Mg, Ca, glucose) six hours apart, blood pressure, pulse rate measurements and subjective complaints were recorded. Tocolysis - delivery intervals were similar in both the groups. The recorded maternal parameters did not change significantly in the atosiban-magnesium sulfate group. In the terbutalin group serum blood glucose concentration and pulse rate showed a significantly increased (p=0.003 and p
