This paper describes surgical reconstruction procedures applied by the authors to restore abnormal anatomical position of pelvic organs. So far 73 such operations were performed. In 33 cases the patients have had abdominal hysterectomy, whereas 15 cases have had suspension of the vaginal peduncle combined with Burch procedure. Also, laparoscopic ventrosuspension and Neugebauer-LeFort operations were carried out along with colposuspension by Gittes in 12 and 13 cases, respectively. In 6 cases pelvic infection presented a challenge following the operation, however these were successfully managed by antibiotics. In one case, urinary bladder injury resulted which was recognized immediately and treated surgically. Difficulty in micturition in the postoperative period had to be solved by application of a suprapubic drain for two days in 1 case. Patients had no complaints and reported significant improvement of their condition at follow-up at 1 and 6 months after the operation. Our experiences prove that combined surgical reconstruction procedures are suitable for restoration of normal pelvic anatomy.
