Abstract

It is possible to generate a combinatorial lipid-peptide library, in the form of a Langmuir-like monolayer (see picture), which functions as a protein or enzyme mimic and exhibits binding activity to a specific sugar substrate, in this case maltose, but not glucose or sucrose.
