Cognitive psychology inspired distributed intelligent network devices

Abstract

Intelligent Space is a space of distributed sensory intelligence and actuators. The basic component of Intelligent Space is the Distributed Intelligent Network Device (DIND), responsible for intelligent sensing and estimation. The intelligence of a DIND comes from its integrated computational power. The present paper has two goals: first is to propose a new DIND for image contour detection. The second goal is to propose a cognitive model integrated in a DIND that can perform intelligent contouring at a very high speed. The model is based on the cognitive functions of the mammalian primary visual cortex by imitating its biological architecture.
