The authors review diseases found during their diagnostic-curative work causing pathologic deformities of the casque of veiled chamaeleons (Chamaeleo calyptratus). Veiled chamaeleons raised in captivity are often rachitic, which results in anomalous development and distortion of the bony casque. Additionally, half-acute, chronic inflammations, abscesses may occur in the casque affected by various bacteria, also causing distortion. Very rarely tumors (such as fibrosarcoma diagnosed by the authors) result in pathologic deformities of the casque.
