Studies have been performed on humoral and cellular immunoreactivities of 20 patients with different skin diseases, when common treatments applied for years were ineffective. The clinical results of Decaris (levamisolum) treatment were excellent in 12 and improved in 6 out of 20 patients after a six-month intermittent cure. This therapy resulted in a tendency toward normalization of several immunological characteristics such as complement level, relative amounts of different immunoglobulin bearing lymphocytes and the leucocyte migration inhibitory effect to PPD. This stimulatory action could be attributed to immunomodulation.
