The results of experiments aimed to study the behaviour of the metals Ni, Cu and Zr irradiated by 230 MeV Ne ions are described. Great changes in the yield strength ΔΣ0.2as function of irradiation dose are obtained in the fluence range 1014‒5 × 1015ion/cm2These results are discussed in the framework of a model assuming the interaction between old clusters and newly produced cascades. The data are described by the dependence of the type ΔΣ = A[1 - exp (– Bπt]1/2.
