The fibrillation threshold of the myocardium following revascularization according to Vineberg Sewell was studied in 29 dogs. The intervention (epicardiectomy with internal mammary artery and vein pedicle flap) was found to permanently reduce the susceptibility to fibrillation. The phenomenon is ascribed to the partial denervation connected with epicardiectomy.
