Abstract

On the radiographs of the mud turtle (Emys orbicularis), that has been cought during angling, the shadow of a fishing hook could be clearly distinguised in the region of the stomach. The isoflurane anaesthesia using endotracheal tube was performed. After the opening of the plastron (coelotomia) the fishing hook was removed easily by the help of gastrotomia. After the surgery the metacrilat was used to cover the peaces of the plastron. The healing was not perfect and the granulation tissue has been formed from the coelotic membran. Six weeks after the surgery the animal began to eat again. One and a half year later the animal looks healthy without any signs of diseases.
